I'm a country boy who grew up in a
family of hard working loggers on the
Olympic Peninsula. I discovered
mountain biking 10 years ago. I've
raced DH and XC from Port Angeles,
WA to Mt Hood, OR. I'm an active
trail work volunteer and I'm into
anything that helps promote our fine
sport. I race on the ragged edge,
because without racing on it I
wouldn't know where it was!

I am 41. I have been riding and racing
bikes, in one form or another, for 28
years. I started in BMX. From there, I
did triathlons on my road bike. In
college, I did a local training road race
and did quite well. So the local race
team asked me to join. The high point
of my road-racing career was
qualifying for the 1988 Olympic trials
in two events. In 1989, I could not
resist the calling of the single-track
trails and started racing mountain
bikes. I have been racing mountain
bikes ever since. My goals for the the
season are to win the Indie point
series in the 40-49 year old expert
class, to defend my Capitol Forest
Super-D title, have fun, make friends,
and promote this fine sport.

I'm 34 years old and I'm in my second
honeymoon with mountain biking. I
was racing mountain bikes in
Washington back when the races had
trials, downhill and XC in the same
weekend...and we were racing all
events on the same bike. What
brought me back to the knobbies are
a few factors 1) good friend's
encouragement 2) equipment, this
recent generation of bikes is
unbelievable 3) FOCF and the Capitol
Forest mtb community, lots of solid
riders, positive people and good
times. I'm looking forward to throwing
down at some regional XC and DH
races in 08'. I'll be the crazy one you
aren't quite sure about!

I'm 27 years old and have been riding
for 10 years. My roots are in downhill
racing but I have recently changed my
focus to endurance downhill racing
and super d style events. My primary
goal for the season is to ride as much
as I can, and promote a positive
image for this sport by practicing
proper trail etiquette and giving back
to the sport that has given me so
much, encouraging others to follow.
As far as racing goals, the three races
I'm focusing on most are the Mt. Hood
spring fling downhill, the Ashland 12
mile super d, and of course the
Downieville Classic. I'm going to do
some early season XC racing to get
ready for those three events. I also
plan on making every FOCF volunteer
trail work day this year, and help keep
my local riding area (Capitol Forest)
in primo shape. I'm super stoked to
be part of this team, and be a part of
this local riding community.

Started mountain biking on a cheap
steel REI House Brand bike and was
totally stoked from the very first time I
did it, even though I was just
riding old blown out logging roads
around the town of Forks out on the
coast.  After a couple of years I
decided to try my first cross country
mountain bike race in Winthrop (1995
- the old Stiff Wick Productions crew,
still have the T-Shirt) and thought it
was pretty cool.  I next decided to
try the Downhill racing scene when it
was starting to take off around 1997
and discovered another method of
emptying my wallet on tweaky, exotic,
high-maintenance, absurdly priced
cycling technology.  I've been racing
both downhill and cross country ever
since, and only plan to give it up when
I get packed out in a Pine Box.  I'm
really excited to be a part of the new
GL6/Joyride racing team.  It's a great
bunch of guys, backed by a great bike
shop (Joyride) and bike brand
(Specialized).

I am 36 years old and have been
mountain biking on and off for 16
years. I recently got reacquainted with
Mountain Biking my family and I
moved from Virginia to Washington
State . I have raced a few cross
country races and some 24 hours
races back East. The atmosphere at
Capitol Forest reinvigorated me to
race again and expand my horizons to
Downhill and Super Ds as well.
Having such a wonderful place like
Capitol Forest near by and a great
group of friends to learn and feed
from makes it an ideal situation. I am
looking forward to the season with
new racing experiences in XC, Super
D's, and DH especially having my 2
kids and wife on the sideline to cheer
for our team.

I'm a college football all start that has
joined the church of the knobby tire. I
ride hard  and play hard. I live to defy
gravity. Whistler saved me.

I'm stoked to be on this team. This is
a solid crew.

I’m 47 years old. I’ve been riding
for most of my life, from a road
ride to Spokane for Expo ’74 to
mountain biking today. What has
re-ignited my passion for riding
was the discovery of Capital
Forest and the people who ride
there, and the opportunity to
give back with the FOCF. I’m
looking forward to challenging
myself with a healthy schedule
of XC racing this year

Some things for you to consider:

Commitment to racing. Strive for the
top of your class, as well as a track
record of consistent attendance at
races. 5 races per year, minimum.

Diversity.
We are an all mountain race team.

Trails don't build themselves. Pick up
a shovel and help FOCF.

Mellow. Save it for race day.

Unity. We are more of a crew than a
team.

Capitol Forest. We are all locals.

No whiners or sore losers. Suck it up.

Relax. Have fun.
